Became obsessed with Dark Matter Coffee while visiting Chicago. Tried to visit all their locations. Star Lounge was easily one of my fave. The decor, art, vibe- just chefs kiss. It’s not just a coffee shop- it’s an experience. Soak in the local art & vibe. Bold. Colorful. Murals everywhere that you just want to stare at. Amazing amazing amazing coffee. Enjoy one of the best coffees you will ever have in your life. I promise.

I don't feel super comfortable in coffeeshops, I don't totally know why but its a personal quirk. This one was comfortable for me and they had very nice merchandise for sale beyond just the coffee. I actually drank a spiced chocolate drink called the Mayan Mocha which I understand was the nectar of the gods that you drank while you lived as a god befofe you got sacrified. I survived drinking the hot chocolate personally, and wowwee did they put some espresso in there. I am curious about the uncaffeinated drinking chocolate, but I am also addicted to caffeine so who knows what the future holds. Good place for coffee drink!

Dark Matter Coffee makes a strong first impression with its beautifully designed interior modern, artistic, and thoughtfully curated to create a distinctive café vibe. Despite visiting early in the morning, the place was already decently busy, which speaks to its popularity. There was a short wait, but the service moved efficiently. We ordered four coffees for the family, including a cappuccino for myself. The coffee was served hot and fresh, delivering the comfort you expect from a good café. That said, while satisfying, the taste felt comparable to other good coffee spots rather than something exceptionally standout. Where Dark Matter Coffee scores is in its overall experience with a great aesthetics, energetic atmosphere, and quick service. It works particularly well as a grab-and-go outlet, ideal for those looking to pick up a reliable cup of coffee without spending too much time.

Very nice coffee shop with plenty of cozy areas to work or visit in. There is a pool table upstairs. There is a nice patio area out back. Zany rocket theme on walls. Now, about the coffee. Dark Matter is a great local roaster and the baristas in the Star Lounge know what they are doing and make really great drinks. Try the bourbon barrel aged mocha for a change of pace!
